Nizzolo sprints to 2nd at Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne

Giacomo Nizzolo claimed his 4th podium of 2020 after winning the bunch sprint for second place at Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne on Sunday. A superb solo effort from Kasper Asgreen (DQT) saw the Dane hold off the peleton bearing down on him to take the win in Kuurne. For the Italian it was reward for an excellent day out as he covered all of the differing moves throughout, climbing well and taking advantage of the fact that some of his rivals had raced on Saturday, to finish in scintillating fashion. Strong squad with a range of options selected for the highly anticipated “Opening Weekend” in Belgium. The weekend’s racing gets underway with premiere opening event of the Spring Classics – Omloop Het Nieuwsblad – where the 2018 winner Michael Valgren and Edvald Boasson Hagen, who was third in 2014, spearhead our challenge over the 200km course from Gent to Ninove. Lineup: Faun Ardeche Classic & Royal Bernard Drome Classic

This weekend we will be in France for a UCI 1.Pro double header, taking on the Faun Ardeche Classic on Saturday and Royal Bernard Drome Classic on Sunday. The French classics take place in the respective hilly regions of south-east France and so the punchy type climbers are expected to go head-to-head for top honours. Jay Thomson ruled out of UAE Tour

Jay Thomson has been ruled out of the remainder of the UAE Tour after a sustaining a broken scaphoid in a crash during stage three of the race on Tuesday. The crash, which also Stefan de Bod and Domenico Pozzovivo, occurred during the early stages of the day’s racing. Thomson bravely rode to complete the tough stage which concluded atop the brutal summit finish of Jebel Hafeet. He was taken to hospital shortly afterwards by our medical staff for further examination where an x-ray confirmed the fracture. Leonardo Marchiori wins in Firenze-Empoli

Our continental team rode superbly to set-up the win for Leonardo Marchiori at Firenze-Empoli today. There were no big attacks or breakaways on the 142,5km race, except for two riders who made it away in the beginning. In the end, it came down to a massive bunch sprint, with around 80 riders fighting for the win. Lineup: UAE Tour

The UCI World Tour continues this weekend, as the 7-stage UAE Tour gets underway on Sunday, in Dubai. It was a welcomed decision by the UCI World Tour peloton to have the Abu Dhabi and Dubai Tour’s join last year, creating the well-rounded UAE Tour. With 4 stages for the sprinters, the Hatta Dam stage providing an option for the puncheurs and two summit finish’s up to Jebel Hafeet, we can expect an exciting race.
