“UNIQUE” NTT PARTNER CHALLENGE DRAWS OVER 700 PARTICIPANTS

NTT Pro Cycling’s riders and staff, together with colleagues from the NTT Continental team, are joining forces with our partners in a “unique event” to commemorate the 2020 Tour de France.

The two-day NTT Partner Challenge, taking place over the weekend of 27/28 June, will see over 700 people in 14 teams endeavour to cover the entire length of the 2020 Grand Boucle – 3470km. The nature of the event will seek to draw our team and our entire partner network even closer in a truly unique, fun fashion.

Participants will either cycle, run, walk, swim or paddle board – or a combination thereof – with a formula applicable to the respective discipline if not covered by bicycle.

Representatives from over 20 of our partners including teams from title partner NTT Ltd., Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, Boyum IT and BMC, will all be competing not just to cover the total distance f the Tour de France but in all likelihood far exceed that target.

Each team will have a NTT Pro Cycling rider as captain of the team along with a colleague, members of staff as well as a rider from our Continental team.

The idea stems from an internal NTT Pro Cycling challenge held earlier during the lockdown period that saw a staff member and a rider combine to burn a minimum of 5000 calories in a 24 hour period. The winning pair in that particular exercise burnt over 11 000 calories but more importantly the camaraderie built across the group saw the broad idea now extend to our partner network.

Event participants will be encouraged to make a donation to the Qhubeka charity in line with our shared vision of the fact that bicycles continue to change lives.

The participants will also be sharing their own journeys to contribute to their respective team’s efforts internally but also use the #NTTPartnerChallenge on social media platforms.

Douglas Ryder – Team Principal

The NTT Partner Challenge is a unique event that truly speaks to the strength and depth of the values we all share like commitment , teamwork and purpose. Bringing our partners together helps us connect in a fun and healthy way, away from the boardroom and another virtual meeting.

As one team, both WorldTour and Continental, our riders and staff have been meeting on a weekly basis ensuring that during this particularly difficult time we’ve been better connected than ever before. It’s been inspiring to see the dedication and focus we’ve maintained within our group, while at the same time seeking to, in new innovative ways, strengthen our connection with all of our partners.

I want to thank them all not only for the incredible enthusiasm with which they’re throwing themselves into this event, but more importantly, the support they’ve shown us during unprecedented times for us all.

That said, there can be only one winner of the NTT Partner Challenge and considering that Edvald is my captain – go #TeamBoassonHagen!
